About Seeds of Hope for Project Tanzania
Seeds of Hope for Project Tanzania was established in 2006 after Debi Mazura, a local resident and teacher at Eastport Elementary School, returned from a trip to Tanzania where she witnessed poverty and famine beyond explanation. Upon her return many friends, co-workers and local merchants and businesses supported her efforts to make Seeds of Hope a reality. During the last four years this dedicated group has raised money to build water tanks, provide food, medical supplies and provide for the educational needs of more than 30 children. The money raised from this event will be used to support the Seeds of Hope Orphanage in Hedaru, Tanzania, East Africa. The orphanage opened its doors one year ago through the efforts of this fundraiser and generous supporters like you! All proceeds from the event will be used to continue to provide a home, food and tuition for all 16 children to attend school. It costs $12,000 each year to keep the orphanage open. Please walk or run with us to help us meet our goal!
